Spring juice shot!

Ginger is an amazing anti-inflammatory botanical used for anything from chronic disease to seasonal allergies. It can be taken as a capsule, tincture or dried herb, but one of the most functional ways to consume ginger is through our diet. If you are someone who deals with seasonal allergies, give this ginger shot recipe a try! For more info (click here)

Ginger, formally known as Zingiber officinale, is an amazing root plant! It’s properties can aid as a stimulant for circulation, digestive carminative, smooth muscle antispasmodic, diaphoretic or emmenagogue for the body. Often we hear of ginger being used for things like fevers and nausea. This makes perfect sense as ginger works on COX ( cyclooxygenase-1 and cyclooxygenase-2) inhibition pathways, much like an NSAID does. It’s carminative properties are what is soothing for the gastrointestinal tract during nausea. Which is very helpful for things like pregnancy, motion sickness and an upset stomach!

A not so thought of use for ginger is allergies! Often time allergies cause nasal, oral and eye irritation. This is due to the body’s inflammatory response to the allergen. Ginger can mitigate this inflammatory response by acting on the COX pathways as mentioned above.

We highly recommend functional foods around here and that is why we want to share this ginger shot recipe with you! This is not the cure all for allergies, but it could help reduce symptoms and flares of discomfort. Give the recipe a shot 😉 and let us know what you think!
